Advertising’s Future, & Photo’s of Beautiful Naked Humans

Many advertisements today are absolute crap, and even annoying. As Marty Neumeier puts it; as less people watch advertising, advertisers become more desperate and use techniques that are more intrusive and annoying to the viewer. This works in the short term to get the messages seen, but in the long term it harms advertising because people learn to distrust and block out advertisements. From here the cycle just starts over, spiraling into the possible death of the industry. UNLESS, we do something remarkable to stop it.

Of course creativity in content must be a factor, we must think way out side of the box, but not just in content. We must be creative in the venues we decide to place the content. Having an ad campaign in a magazine, on the radio, as a banner on the web, on a billboard, and on TV will surely get attention, but will it keep it? Great campaigns like Mini, Travelers Insurance, and Old Spice all had something great in common, they all CREATED ENTERTAINMENT. Not just with their content either, but with all sorts of great interactive approaches.

The first two video’s are interactive advertisements in high traffic areas. The ads were so entertaining to the public walking by that people took the time to film and post them on You Tube. The third is a fan-made parody of an Old Spice commercial.

By making the campaign entertaining, instead of just connecting it to entertainment, we can build a world around it that draws people in like the Death Star tractor beam. This “world” will build brand awareness and influence like miracle grow on petunias, and we will be moving the industry forward, instead of shooting it in the foot.

Sorry about lack of nude photo’s, don’t you feel cheated? Kinda like after watching shitty advertising.
